Ingredients:

Options for the sauce

  • Cocktail Sauce: Cocktail sauce is a classic condiment commonly served with seafood, particularly shrimp, crab, oysters, and other shellfish. It is a flavorful and zesty sauce that enhances the taste of seafood dishes.

  • Mayonnaise

  • Pink sauce: tomato sauce mixed with heavy cream

  • Clamato: A mixture of tomato juice and clam juice, seasoned with spices and condiments for flavor. The name "Clamato" comes from the combination of the words "clam" and "tomato".

  • Tabasco: Tabasco sauce is made from Tabasco chiles, which are small, hot peppers. The chiles are harvested, ground and mixed with salt and vinegar to create the sauce.

Method:

  1. To make a shrimp cocktail, the first step is to clean the seafood. Peel the shrimp by removing all the shell and remove the head and tail. Do not forget to devein them, i.e. remove the thin black strip from the top of the back with a sharp knife.

  2. Put the ingredients that will flavor this shrimp cocktail recipe into a pot with water: the onion cut in two halves, a few bay leaves and a handful of coarse salt. Put it on the stove and, when it starts to boil, add the shrimp and you can add 1-2tbsp of spice the sea to the boiling water for more flavor.

  3. Keep the ingredients in the boiling water for 2 - 3 minutes. When you see that the shrimp acquire their characteristic orange color, remove the pot from the heat. Take them out of the pot and immediately put them in a bowl with cold water. With this simple trick, you will stop the cooking process and the shrimp meat will have the ideal texture for a perfect cocktail. Reserve some of the cooking water.

  4. Wash a few lettuce leaves well, dry them and chop them. When they are ready, you can begin to assemble the shrimp cocktail: place the lettuce in the glass or glass bowl where you are going to present the cocktail.

  5. You will also have to prepare the sauce you have chosen as an accompaniment. You can make a shrimp cocktail with mayonnaise by placing a few spoonfuls of this sauce on the lettuce. You can also do the same with a pink sauce or cocktail sauce. If you like it spicy, you can add a few drops of Tabasco to the cocktail, getting a spicy and savory shrimp cocktail. Whatever you do, it's time to add Spice The Sea by Nativo Spices, which will make it special.

  6. On top of the lettuce and the chosen sauce, add the shrimp. You can also place some shrimp on the edges of the glass as decoration, and even some aromatic herbs or a piece of lemon.

  7. If you want a cocktail with a more liquid consistency, you can opt for clamato as a base for your sauce. In this case, put the refreshing tomato juice in the base of the glass, add a little of the shrimp cooking broth and the juice of half a lemon. Mix well and add the shrimp. You can also decorate the glass with some shrimp and lemon slices.

  8. Whatever option you choose, once you have prepared your shrimp cocktail, let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes so that, when it is time to eat it, it will be as refreshing as it is delicious.

And now all you have to do is enjoy! We hope you like this recipe and that you share it with other fans of the sea. If you make it, don't forget to upload a photo to your stories and tag Nativo Spices. You'll get a discount on your next purchase of your favorite spices.
